Contact the Hedding Law Firm

First off, anybody who is answering the phone at my firm understands criminal law, has helped people for many years and will begin the process to help you. Really what we need to do is get you in touch with myself or one of my attorneys who has experience handling criminal cases similar to yours in the jurisdiction where your case is pending and knows how to get the ball moving in the right direction.

Really when you contact us, we're trying to get you in so we can sit down and talk to you and get a game plan together. That's probably the most important thing to do in a federal criminal case.

Instead of just floundering around doing nothing, speculating as to what might happen, being nervous or being scare, you need to be proactive and get a strategy together and you don't really sit in the best position to get the strategy together yourself. That's why you're contacting us.

That's why we have you come in and we sit down and then you give us all the details related to your case.

Reviewing The Details of Your Federal Case

I think it's important when you give those details that you give a fair accounting of the details. Don't just give a one-sided slanted accounting of what happened.

Of course, give your version of events, but also give the version of events that got you arrested in the first place. A lot of people will come in and tell me their story and I'll look at them and say I don't understand why you got arrested based on what you just told me.

You didn't do nothing wrong, and they say that's right I didn't do anything wrong. But you are arrested. You do have a case pending. You've contacted us for a reason, so now let's get down to the nitty-gritty as to exactly what happened in your case. Give it to me from the police's standpoint.

Give it to me from the prosecutor's standpoint. Give it to me from the alleged victim's standpoint. Then we can at least flush out and see what they're claiming that you did wrong. Then we're now in a position to put a strategy together, to put a plan together, get your version of events out there in such a way so that you can end up with the best possible results.

Not all of these cases are the same. Sometimes people are guilty. They've done something wrong and we need to mitigate the circumstances and get the best result.

Other times, people are innocent. They didn't do anything wrong and for one reason or another they find themselves on the wrong end of the law. Then yet, there's a third scenario where even though they're accusing somebody of something, it didn't happen exactly that way. In other words, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

So, when you contact us, the first thing we're going to do is get you in or discuss the case with you over the phone.

I do that all the time as well, and then we're going to start to talk about what can we do moving forward that's going to get you out of the criminal justice system as soon as possible, that's going to get your case resolved, that's going to protect your record, that's going to protect your rights, your freedom and everything that's important to you — your career, your family.

The way that we get this plan together is first laying all the facts out on the table so that we can see exactly what happened. Then we have to talk about potential solutions related to your matter. What makes sense for you and also what's realistic. .

Realistic Assessment of Your Case for Best Outcome

If you're charged with a federal crime, you're not going to get released immediately and then an apology letter. They're going to take the case seriously.

So, we have to be realistic about what we're seeking and then once we have an agreement in that first contact meeting as to exactly how we're going to handle the case, what our goals are going to be related to the case.

Now, everything really seems to fit into place. You'll feel a lot more comfortable and a lot more in control of your circumstances because you'll know what the goal is, you'll know what your role is to get that goal, you'll know what I'm going to do to get you the result that you must have.

Then we can move forward in a powerful direction — everybody on the same page; everybody moving towards the same goal. And that extra weight of more than one person working on a goal, trying to achieve a goal, is going to put us in the best possible position.
